I am now trained in EMDR and can offer this to you to alleviate anxiety, phobias, depression, grief and other distressing symptoms.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based treatment for trauma, PTSD, abuse, phobias, anxiety, depression, grief, addictions and other difficult feelings, thoughts, and symptoms that you may experience. Eye movements and other types of bilateral stimulation activate your brain’s problem solving process. This replicates what happens during REM sleep when your eyes are darting back and forth. By focusing on a specific problem and both its positive and negative emotions, sensations, and beliefs, and then adding the bilateral stimulation, your brain begins problem solving. EMDR is based on the notion that there was maladaptive or incomplete processing of traumatic or disturbing life experiences. These disturbing experiences are triggered by current situations or the thought of facing similar situations in the future. Using bilateral stimulation, we will target past experience, current triggers, and future troubling situations to alleviate your presenting symptoms and decrease the distress from the disturbing memory.
